IDOT Announces Statewide Listening Tour

IDOT Launches Statewide Listening Tour to Discuss Illinois Infrastructure Needs, Priorities

The Illinois Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the Illinois Capital Development Board, announced today the start of a series of listening sessions over the next month to discuss the state’s infrastructure needs and the steps required to make sure the right investments are being made to keep Illinois competitive in a 21st century global economy.
The meetings will be held in multiple communities throughout the state, with a goal of presenting Governor Rauner’s office with a comprehensive package of recommendations for consideration this spring.

The Woodstock Chamber of Commerce sponsored a mixer for Route 47 businesses on March 18th at Golden Eagle Community Bank.

Cort Carlson, speaking for the City of Woodstock, as well as a Communications Committee meeting, brought the the businesses up to date on the Route 47 plans, along with an updated timeline. He referred to the letter that was received from the Illinois Route 47 Study team (linked here), and updated everyone on the next meetings.

Mike Potter, chairman of the Communications Committee, spoke about the creative process and goals of the Check Out the Route program. He talked about the direction the program is taking now and in the future to prepare businesses for the changes ahead, and referenced the difficulty experienced by Huntley, Crystal Lake and McHenry when they went through this same process.

March 16 Letter to Stakeholders from IDOT

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) received a lot of feedback at the recent public outreach events which included the project’s third public meeting, held on July 9, 2014, as well as the Business Owner Meeting held on October 23, 2014 hosted by the City of Woodstock and the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The two meetings had a combined attendance of over 140 stakeholders who issued more than 60 comments on the project. The comments received included support for the project and the proposed alternatives as well as identifying concerns with proposed design elements associated with each alternative.
